Last week, I read The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. This is one of the first times I've actually read what I would consider a "trendy" book while it's still trendy, by the way. I usually don't get to them until a few years later... I decided to give some of the KonMari organizing principles a try. You organize by category, and one of the key things is to gather everything from that category in one spot. The first area to tackle is clothing. So I gathered all of my … [Read more...]
Books I’ve Read: July 2015
Earlier this month, I posted my review of Gretchen Rubin's Better Than Before. I'm attempting to read more by getting a book from the library, which has a two-week due date (and then a two-week renewal). It's not perfect, but it is a deadline to force myself to read something. I do look forward to the day when the kids are a little older, and nap time/quiet time morphs into reading time. For now, here's my other book review for the month... A Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. I read a … [Read more...]
Book Review: Better Than Before by Gretchen Rubin
Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from Blogging for Books. A few years ago, back when she was still writing The Happiness Project, I read Gretchen Rubin's blog, although I stopped somewhere in there because my blog list was too long. Books I’ve Read: June 2015
No picture this time around, because these were all on my Kindle. But here's what I read this time around... The Frugal Life: The Simple Path To Living A Good Life On A Budget by Michelle Stewart. This was one of the "less than 100 pages" books on my Kindle that I got for free at some point. Most of this book was pretty common sense, review stuff. Declutter and sell stuff, meal plan, use coupons, budget. The one takeaway I got from it was an example in the first chapter about eating … [Read more...]
Books I’ve Read: April 2015
Did anyone notice that I didn't have a post about books in March? No? Well, that's because I didn't actually finish any books in March. April was not much better. I'm just in one of those busy seasons of life, I guess. I do need to be more intentional with my free time, though. I find myself wasting bits of my day on the Internet far more frequently than I need to. Anyways...here's the book I read most of in March, and finally finished this week. This Is What You Just Put In Your … [Read more...]
