Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! I always forget how joyful Palm Sunday is after the solemnity of Lent. It sneaks up on me.
Our dining room table is full of plants right now. I have my parsley and basil still growing, Jesse brought me flowers to celebrate the launch of this blog, and we ended up with several extra palm branches from church this morning. It’s fresh and full of life and I love it.
These two are obsessed with Legos. I’m going to show them the directions in this post tomorrow, and I have a feeling they’ll build them all.
I cooked steak for the first time this week. It actually turned out pretty nicely cooked (medium well when I was going for medium rare, but not too far off)! Jesse normally cooks the steak, but he was busy working on a few church things, so I jumped in. I’ve learned so many cooking skills from watching him over the past several years.
Interesting Reads from this week:
Repurposed Newspaper Seedling Planters from Little House Living. This year we’re looking at doing only direct sow seeds and buying some starter plants for our garden, but last year, this would have come in handy.
We Gave Eight Households $100 To Spend At The Grocery Store from The Simple Dollar. I can totally relate to the mom buying diapers, and the families purchasing mostly produce and not a lot of prepackaged food. But the college girl with her pizza rolls made me laugh, because I still remember having vanilla wafers and marshmallow creme in my dorm room.
Whole Wheat Madeleines from 100 Days of Real Food. After our Whole 30 is done, I might make some of these for a treat. I don’t have a fancy pan, but apparently other people have just scooped them out or used a mini muffin pan. They might not be as pretty, but I bet they’ll be delicious!
We are taking the week mostly off from school over here. We’ll probably do a bit of catching up on a few things Monday-Wednesday, and then have a long Easter weekend, not starting up again until the following Tuesday. I’ll be folding bulletins and practicing organ for the bonus church services, and Jesse will be busy memorizing extra sermons. This is the time of the church year that is so full of meaning – Jesus died for us! Hosanna in the highest!
