Sometimes in choosing homeschool activities, I find myself over-complicating things. I am totally guilty of looking at activities on Pinterest, saving them thinking they look awesome, and then getting to the day we are supposed to do them and feeling overwhelmed with the amount of preparation that needs to go into them. This is not one of those.
Here’s how the addition game works:
- Roll 2 dice and add them together (write out the problem).
- If the answer is higher than 6, circle it. 10 circles wins!
Jonah also wanted to join in on the action, so I gave him the subtraction version of the game.
Subtraction version:
- Roll 2 dice and write the subtraction problem. (Put the bigger number first.)
- If the answer is lower than 3, circle it. 10 circles win! (You can see in the picture below, we did 3 and lower, but that ended up being pretty much all of them, so I would stick to only less than 3.)
We just wrote ours on scrap paper from the recycling, but I later found a cute printable that would work for this too. Obviously this is not a new idea, but more than the idea, I want to encourage you to keep school simple. The kids will learn either way!
