I love getting mail. Whether it’s something I’ve ordered online, a letter from a friend or family member, or even something as simple as a magazine, I like to see what’s new in the mailbox. Except for bills. Those are no fun. But one of my favorite things to get in the mail are Christmas cards. I love seeing how everyone’s family has grown, to see what they chose for their family pictures, to read the letters about how much everyone has been doing. Those pictures and announcements are my happy place.
But especially this time of year, there are a lot of those. I do enjoy doing some sort of display of the holiday cards during the Christmas season, but once Christmas is over, I don’t just want to throw everyone’s smiling faces away.
So I keep them in a simple photo album. Throughout the year, we also receive baby announcements, wedding invitations, and pictures of nieces and nephews. Those, along with the Christmas cards, go in the photo album. There isn’t any special arrangement, there’s no fancy paper or washi tape – just the pictures stuck on the pages. But it’s fun to look through and see how everyone has grown!
Also, while taking pictures for this post, I realized I only have two pages left in this album! I’ll be grabbing another one soon. I bought this one at Walmart several years ago, but you can find a similar one here.
These, along with our yearly family photo books, are one of the kids’ favorites to look through and see who they recognize. I love that they get to connect with family members we may not see as often, and I have fun looking back at previous years as well.
I also keep our family Christmas cards from each year on a couple of small book rings, but I store those with the Christmas decorations, and just bring them out during the Christmas season.
Do you keep photo cards and announcements from other people? How do you store them?

I was doing something similar, but got frustrated when I ran out of space. Thanks for posting this – now I am going to buy another album and get organized again 🙂 I think my son will like looking through these too.

Yay! The kids really do enjoy it. And I think my husband also found it useful back when we first got married and I could explain who all the family members were. There’s a lot of us! 🙂
