A lot of my focus lately has been on food. I spent time putting together my free cookbook. I’ve been making and packaging lots of homemade granola for the Farmers’ Market (find that recipe here).
We’ve been working on Baby Step #2 of Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover, which means paying off debt. To do that, I’m trying to be extra strict with my grocery budget, and trying some new routines and new recipes to see what works. This month instead of two big shopping trips, we did one huuuuuge trip at the beginning of the month, with a three week meal plan, and a plan to eat from the pantry and freezer the fourth week.
And I’m trying to be more mindful of what I eat, because I’ve been having off and on digestion issues since our Whole 30 in March. I had good intentions about returning to eating all of the real food we were eating before that, without any of the junk, but I haven’t stuck with that enough to tell what the problem is.
So food. It’s on my mind.
And really, for a memories-themed challenge, it fits. Food is the center of a lot of memories. Since I was planning to knit up a few coffee cup sleeves to sell at the Farmers’ Market anyways, why not do that as part of this challenge?
I have two of these that I made several years ago, back when I had my weekly “mommy me time” and I read big books. That weekly retreat was something I looked forward to, and every time I use one of these, I still think fondly of it.
For fellow knitters, I simply cast on 15 stitches on size 8 needles, and knitted 56 rows. I stitched the ends of the rectangle together, and the body of the coffee cup sleeve was done. Basic knitting is what I do. Reeeeealllly basic. I stitched on top of a couple of them to embellish them, and I think they’re really cute!
