We do this thing fairly often that a lot of people think is crazy. Why would you do something that's so hard, and with so much potential for disaster? What is that thing, you ask? Coffeeschooling. Coffeeschooling is a term that I made up to combine homeschooling and coffee shop. Basically, we take our schoolwork for the day (or at least some of it), and relocate to a coffee shop. It works like this. We will do whatever can't be done elsewhere first while we're still at home, … [Read more...]
2019 Day In The Life Of Our Homeschool
It's time for another day in the life of our homeschool! This was last Tuesday. I had worked at Dunkin' the night before and didn't get to bed until late. My husband Jesse is in his first year of a doctorate program, and our kids are Jonah (age 9), Matthew (age 7), Hannah (age 5), Elizabeth (age 4), and Sarah (age 1). This year, there were definitely some things we really loved, and some things that just didn't happen like I expected them to. By thinking through what worked and what didn't, I can figure out what to change for next year, so that we can have another successful time of learning! What Worked in Our Homeschool Year Coffeeschooling. For those who don't follow me on Instagram, coffeeschooling … [Read more...]
Day In The Life Of Our Homeschool: 2018
For those who are hopping over from the Simple Homeschool linkup, welcome! We are a family of seven. My husband Jesse is a pastor in northern Oregon, and I stay home with the kids and write here. Jonah is 8, Matthew, is 6, Hannah is 4, Elizabeth is 3, and Sarah is not quite 2 months old. Our days are rarely all the same, but we do have a rhythm of sorts that we follow most of the time. Here's how this particular Monday a few weeks ago went. 6:30ish. I wake up because the baby … [Read more...]
